Together for mental health: Employees complete training as Mental Health First Aiders

After accidents, natural disasters, terrorist attacks or other psychologically stressful events, the focus is usually initially on the physical injuries of those affected. However, measures to stabilize the psyche are just as important. This is precisely why there are Mental Health First Aiders who can provide support in these moments.

As part of a pioneering pilot project, 15 employees of the Otto Krahn Group have successfully completed training as Mental Health First Aiders this year. The training courses were conducted by BG Prevent GmbH, a specialist in occupational health and safety prevention, and the AOK, one of Germany’s largest statutory health insurance providers. Participants acquired important skills for providing quick and empathetic support to colleagues after stressful events in their professional or private lives.

In the future, the Mental Health First Aiders will be available as internal contact persons to provide initial support when needed and to support those affected in difficult situations. They also act as bridge builders: they recognize distress early on and help to arrange appropriate further assistance.

At the Otto Krahn group and its businesses, employees and their safety are our top priority worldwide. Together, we want to become even better at recognizing and supporting exceptional psychological situations in the future – and thus continuously expand the services we offer our employees.
